Michael Danberg

Michael Danberg is the Managing Director of SPD’s Finance &Special Situations Practice.

With over 35 years of experience in commercial real estate debt, Mr. Danberg brings deep expertise across all facets of the industry. Throughout his career, he has specialized in the restructuring, negotiation, structuring, underwriting, documentation, and closing of complex transactions—including large principal deals, subordinate debt, and CMBS large loans. He also possesses extensive proficiency in financial modeling.

Prior to joining SPD, Mr. Danberg spent more than 12 at The Blackstone Group in the Real Estate Debt Strategies division, where he served as a Senior Asset Manager. In this role, he managed multi-billion-dollar portfolios of complex senior and subordinate financings, including transitional asset loans, ground-up construction financing, and pre-development loans across all asset classes and geographies.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Danberg held senior positions at leading institutions such as Citigroup, Barclays Capital, and Capital Trust.

He earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BS in Civil Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York.
